Tendulkar calls for higher sight screens

It is learnt that Sachin Tendulkar has requested Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) authorities to increase the height of sight screens at the High Court End and the BC Roy Club House End before the second Test against West Indies gets underway on Monday


It is learnt that Sachin Tendulkar has requested Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) authorities to increase the height of sight screens at the High Court End and the BC Roy Club House End before the second Test against West Indies gets underway on Monday.

Tendulkar, who is one century away from 100 international tons, was seen chatting with senior CAB official Goutam Dasgupta and joint secretary Biswarup Dey on Saturday. Dasgupta said: "There is a problem, that's why we want some changes to be made in both the sight screens. Hopefully, it will be done by tomorrow (Sunday) itself."

Meanwhile, Dey said that CAB was ready to provide all facilities: "Why not (why wouldn't we consider Sachin's suggestions)? If someone like Sachin wants something, CAB is always ready to provide all facilities. There will be no issue."

Loss of 1400 seats
SUNDAY MiD DAY learnt that the height (of the sight screens) would be increased from the current 16ft to 18.2 ft. CAB will lose 1400 seats due to Tendulkar's request. Also, the staircase at the High Court End, currently painted black, will be white.u00a0
