Stuart Binny was the biggest surprise to emerge out of yesterday's selection. The Karnataka all-rounder, whose father is one of the selection panel members, was given a place in the 18-member squad for England Test series and the Bangladesh ODI series which commences after the Indian Premier League-7 final.
In his debut match against New Zealand, Binny did not get a chance to bat. His next chance came against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup where he was out on a duck.
In the last Ranji Trophy season, Binny scored 321 runs in six matches, which included a half-century and a ton.
He managed to take only 11 wickets for Ranji winners Karnataka. Binny scored 88 and 122 against Rest of India in the Irani Cup. In 13 IPL-7 matches, Binny accumulated 123 runs and claimed three wickets for Rajasthan Royals.
