Virender Sehwag may well turn out for Haryana next year, but it could have happened much earlier had he not been persuaded to stay on with Delhi.

A former India player told MiD DAY that he was well aware of Sehwag's problem with the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association three seasons ago. However, the dashing batsman decided to open up against the DDCA only a few days ago. "Viru has always been outspoken and I am not surprised that he has come out strongly against the DDCA officials and called them corrupt," said a former player. "He had raised this issue three years ago too and had a meeting to discuss the issue with Arun Jaitley (DDCA president) but somehow he didn't leave for another state," he said.

Sehwag's straightforwardness come as a breathe of fresh air and he could make a difference. He has never been scared of calling a spade a spade. This ensures a cricket fans enjoys Sehwag the cricketer and the man.

When it came to commenting on the Indian Premier League, he said that there was more pressure involved in the IPL because players had to explain to team owners when they lost.

Earlier this year, he attacked former coach Greg Chappell, with whom he didn't enjoy a cordial relationship. "The thing with him (Chappell) was that whatever you shared with him, it was promptly disclosed to media and selectors. He talked and that hurt the trust," Sehwag said.
