Red Bull FI team mentor, David Coulthard says Piquet Jr should have been more responsible for his actions
His revelations might have caused a stir in the Formula One circuit... even led to a few big names such as Italian business tycoon and Renaultu00a0 principal Flavio Baritore's head rolling. But Nelson Piquet Jr will have to pay a heavy price for suggesting that FI teams fix races.
According to Red Bull mentor and reserve driver David Coulthard, the "smart looking talented driver" will never be able to race in Formula One again.
"His reputation is tarnished. I don't think he will get a second chance now," Coulthard who was the city briefly before going on a promotional visit to the capital, said yesterday.
Coulthard felt that even if the team think-tank issues orders, as a driver one has to realize that eventually it is him who will execute team instructions. "Nelson has to take more responsibility for his actions. It's easy to simply blame the boss. I know he has taken it too far. I don't know how you can crash an F1 car. I spent my entire career trying not to crash one," added Coulthard.
Piquet Jr was later cleared by the FIA stewards of any wrongdoing in a Renault plot that saw the Brazilian crash his car to help teammate Fernando Alonso win a race at the Singapore Grand Prix last year.
