Pakistan left-arm pacer Muhammad Amir, who was earlier involved in a spot-fixing scandal, is back in the news again. But this time, he's in the news for having tied the knot in Lahore.
According to reports in Pakistani media, the 24-year-old cricketer is set to have three wedding functions -- Mehndi on Monday, reception and Valima on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively,
Amir and his better half Narjis, a British-Pakistani reportedly met at a family event six years ago in London. The duo had a brief nikkah ceremony two years ago in 2014 while still severing his five-year ban from cricket for spot-fixing.
"This is a love marriage and both the families happily consented to their union," the cricketer told the media ahead of his mehendi ceremony on Tuesday morning. Amir added, "Narjis has stood by my side during the most difficult moments of my life."
Several prominent personalities from the field of Pakistan cricket attended the wedding ceremony on Tuesday.
The tainted Pakistani cricketer, who is on his comeback trail, will travel to the UAE immedialtely after his wedding and join the national team for the T20I series against West Indies, which are to start from September 23.
Narjis is quite active on social media and shares updates about her husband and his achievements regularly.
Amir has played 18 Tests for Pakistan and claimed 63 wickets. In ODIs, he has claimed 35 scalps in 22 ODIs. He has also represented Pakistan in 30 T20Is and taken 34 wickets. Amir made a comeback to Test cricket in the Lord's match against England this year, after serving a five-year ban for spot-fixing.
