Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran said summons have been issued to Modi and six others to appear for inquiry during the first week of next month. Modi is believed to be in London since he feels it is unsafe to return to India.

In a complaint against Modi and six others, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan charged them with misappropriation of around R468 crore. The complaint was lodged in October. The city police have issued the summons after studying the BCCI's reply to a questionnaire sent to them in October.
