Mohali: The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali is one venue where India cannot take New Zealand lightly. The Mohali pitch has a reputation of providing good bounce.
With a fast outfield and moderate weather, with winter just round the corner, it is one of the few places where foreign teams are more than happy to play. In such conditions, New Zealand would fancy their chances of taking lead in the series.
New Zealand also realise that their top pace bowlers, Trent Bout and Tim Southee are a potent force in tandem and can rattle any batting line-up on their day.
There is little doubt, after the duo's Delhi display, that the Kiwis missed the services of an injured Southee during the Test series. Southee was quite gung-ho about playing in Mohali and did not hide his feelings.
"Both Boult and I have played a lot in Mohali (during the IPL) and are aware what it has to offer. The pitch usually has good bounce and there is a bit of grass. We hope to make the most of the conditions,'' Southee said
