India under-19 coach WV Raman reckons the young pace duo of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi have the talent to graduate to the senior team and have to be nurtured well. Rajasthan's Nagarkoti, 17, came up with a match-winning 10-wicket haul during the Chesterfield Test against England where India won by 334 runs. UP pacer Mavi, 18, took 10 wickets in two Tests and five in four ODIs.
"Nagarkoti and Mavi are bowlers we have to keep an eye on. Both are very athletic and have the ability to generate good pace and bounce. If they are handled well in the next two to three years, I am sure they will be very good fast bowlers," Raman, the former India opener, told mid-day yesterday. The colts' next challenge will be to defend the U-19 Asia Cup in November at Malaysia and Raman is confident that his side can retain the title.
"The same team may not go as there may be two or three changes. I am not sure, but if the core of the team remains the same, then they can retain the title. I will be surprised if they can't," added Raman.
