N Srinivasan to hit back at former chiefs Manohar, Bindra

A day after the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Mudgal Committee gave N Srinivasan a clean chit in the Indian Premier League 2013 scandal, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president in exile, displayed his determination to hit back at two former BCCI presidents - Shashank Manohar and Inderjit Singh Bindra - for tarnishing and destabilising the working of the Board, it is learnt.

Yesterday, the Working Committee members decided to fully back Srinivasan as they felt there is no "taint" on his conduct after reading the final copy of the Mudgal report.

'Targeted BCCI's image'
Srinivasan attended yesterday's meeting in Chennai as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president. A source told mid-day: "Srinivasan is not going to spare Shashank Manohar and IS Bindra. He told members that they have tarnished the image of the BCCI and will make them bear the legal expenses once the case is over."

Bindra, who is now retired from cricket administration, yesterday tweeted: "At an informal Dinner Meeting at Chennai it was proposed last night that Manohar, (Sharad) Pawar & ISB be suspended for tarnishing image of the Board."

Relieved
The source said Srinivasan was relieved that the Mudgal Committee gave him a clean chit in the IPL-6 corruption scandal, but he "did not comment on it" as the matter is sub-judice. The final hearing is on November 24.

The Mudgal Committee did not find Srinivasan guilty of either betting, fixing or trying to scuttle the investigation into the IPL scandal, but the report states that the ICC Chairman, along with four other BCCI officials, knew about a player violating the IPL code of conduct, but did not take any action. The IPL player and violation of IPL code is not yet specified in the report.

"Nobody questioned him on anything. He speaks and members listen. That's how it is," said the source.
