New Delhi: The naming of four individuals in the report of the Mudgal Committee which probed allegations of spot fixing and betting in the 2013 edition of the lucrative IPL drew scathing comments yesterday from the cricketing fraternity and demands for the guilty to be "put behind bars".

Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi said that all names made public by the court after the committee submitted its report should be jailed. "All named in report should be #locked up for doing what they did. Examples have to be made. Check the amount of public #money spent on this," Modi tweeted.

"Finally the #money power and mafia power are no match to honorable Supreme Court. Truth prevails." A Supreme Court bench comprising justice TS Thakur and justice FM Kalifullah yesterday disclosed the names of four dominant cricket personalities - N Srinivasan, BCCI chief operating officer (COO) Sundar Raman, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) co-owner Raj Kundra and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team principal Gurunath Meiyappan besides at least three yet unnamed players - whose role are being probed in the spot fixing scandal.

Counsel Kapil Sibal, appearing for Srinivasan, pointed out that for the purpose of hearing contents of the Mudgal Committee about Srinivsasan, Meiyappan, Raman and Raj Kundra they have to be impleaded and made party and heard. The court, however, said that the identity of the players named in the report will be held back for the time being.

Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested by Mumbai Police last year on charges of cheating

The court said it would make the report available to lawyers on both sides so that they can make their arguments when the next hearing takes place November 24. The court said all the parties will file their objections to the report within four days of its receipt and they will have the liberty to file responses to rival objections in another four days and directed the listing of the matter for November 24.

It's a shame: Verma
Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma, petitioner in the spot fixing and betting case, said sidelined president N Srinivasan has ruined BCCI's reputation following the inclusion of his name into investigations on the allegations by the Mudgal Committee.

"The court has made it clear that the named parties will have to be there on November 24. It is a shame for the BCCI that its name has been dragged into all these things," Verma told reporters here. "We have seen the report. It does suggest some misdemeanour on the part of certain individuals," justice Thakur said at the outset of the hearing. Former BCCI treasurer Kishore Rungta said that action sould be taken against the people named in the report.

'Name the guilty quicky'
"I wish and hope that they are pronounced guilty as quickly as possible. Because more or less it is certain that Meiyappan's name is bound to appear. If Meiyappan's name appear then I cannot see as to how Srinivasan can escape his responsibility," said Rungta.

Also welcoming the court's decision was former Indian skipper Bishan Singh Bedi. "Does the BCCI need 2 B shown in more murky "mahaul"?!SCI nearly bares it all bar the shouting and there'll b plenty of that in Nov itself!!," Bedi wrote on twitter.
