Ever since the spot fixing scandal rocked Pakistan last year, every defeat has become a subject of intense speculation. No wonder Wednesday's semi-final defeat against India in Mohali has also raised some questions.
While runaway former Pakistani wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haidar smells a rat, former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz didn't quite suspect the match to be fixed, but was sarcastic in his remarks. "Pakistan batsmen lost their wickets against a not-so-great bowling. There are many questions that I want to raise, like why was the batting powerplay taken when nine wickets were down? Why did Misbah-ul-Haq play such a slow innings, which cost us the match," Sarfaraz told MiD DAY from Lahore yesterday.
"Misbah played for himself. He batted selfishly. The fielding was very poor. You cannot drop so many catches. It was quite an immature performance from the Pakistanis," he said.
"India kept their cool while the Pakistani batsmen went for their shots without thinking twice," he added.
