Bombay Scottish could well have been denied a place in the summit clash of the U-12 Div I Nike-MSSA inter-school football tournament due to a goof up in the fixtures.

According to the draw, as Scottish finished second in the group stage, they were to meet Christ Church in the quarter-final but played St Anne's (Malad) instead and won 1-0. This led them to play favourites Don Bosco (Matunga) in the semi-final when they should have been playing either St Francis D'Assisi or Campion, (Colaba) the other two semi-finalists.

"When we questioned MSSA football secretary Xavier Faria about this, he said, 'it's a mistake that should have been brought to my notice earlier. Now it's too late to do anything'," Scottish sports manager Patricia Furtado told MiD DAY after her team's 0-3 defeat to the Bosco boys.

Don Bosco head coach Leslie Machado too said he had heard of some problem with the fixtures. "I heard St Stanislaus (Bandra) complain too saying they were not supposed to meet St Francis in the quarters," Machado said.

Faria did not respond to calls despite repeated attempts to reach him.
