New Delhi: IPL creator Lalit Modi, banned by the very board for which he created the world's richest cricket league, has moved an inch closer to his home.

Modi, currently in litigation with the BCCI, is camping in Mauritius, from where he is consulting lawyers representing Aditya Verma, the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) official, who has taken on the all-powerful BCCI.

It is reliably learnt that Verma was scheduled to travel to Mauritius to meet Modi last week, but the plan eventually was cancelled because of yesterday's court proceedings.

Modi, who recently claimed he was funding expenses of lawyers representing Verma, is in close touch with NCP leader Sharad Pawar, a known Srinivasan hater, and Anurag Thakur, who heads the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and has reportedly thrown his weight behind Pawar.

The former cricket czar, who has been living in London, is closely monitoring developments in the country's apex court, and advising CAB's lawyers on what he claims is "deadly evidence" against Srinivasan.
