The Dr HD Kanga Cricket League 'A' and 'B' division matches finally kicked off yesterday after five washed-out Sundays. However, the joy of players lasted for only a few overs as rain forced umpires to abandon play. Only one 'A' division game actually began - Cricket Club of India (CCI) v Fort Vijay at the Brabourne Stadium. CCI openers Paul Valthaty (8 not out) and Saksham Parashar (4 not out) helped their side to reach 12 in 3.4 overs before the heavens opened.

In the 'B' division, DY Patil Sports Academy scored 25 without loss in 4.3 overs against Parel Sporting but the match was called off due to rain at Islam Gymkhana where DY Patil skipper Doraiswamy Subramanian hit three sixes in his unbeaten 19. The Sainath SC v Police Gymkhana and PJ Hindu Gymkhana v Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association clashes were abandoned too.
