The IPL 9 Auction is set to take place on Saturday. With two new teams -- Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants -- in the mix, the auction ahead of the ninth edition of the T20 tournament is sure to take the cricket world by storm and garner a lot of attention.

Number of players to go under the hammer:
351 (230 are Indians). 130 are capped players, 219 uncapped and two Associate players.

How many cricketers can be chosen in the auction?
116

Players retained:
A total of 101 players were retained by the six franchisee which include 37 overseas cricketers.

Total number of players released by teams:
61

Players traded:
One (Kedar Jadhav was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore from Delhi Daredevils at an undisclosed amount).

Eight marquee players:
Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Kevin Pietersen, Shane Watson, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill and Dwayne Smith.

Highest base price:
There are 12 players with a top base price bracket of Rs 2 crore: Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Kevin Pietersen, Shane Watson, Ashish Nehra, Dinesh Karthik, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny, Michael Hussey, Kane Richardson and Mitchell Marsh.

Purse left with each franchisee:
Delhi Daredevils have the most funds in their purse with Rs 37.15 crore after releasing 13 of their squad, including Yuvraj (purchased for 16 crore) and Angelo Mathews (7.5 crore). Second highest purse is with Sunrisers Hyderabad (Rs 30.15 crore) followed by Kings XI Punjab (Rs 23 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 17.95 crore), Mumbai Indians (Rs 14.405 crore), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 21.625 crore). The two new teams, Rising Pune Super Giants and Gujarat Lions, have 27 crore each.

What about players from CSK and RR:
The two new teams were allowed to pick best five players through the IPL Players Draft. The rest of the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals players will go into the auction pool with the rest of the cricketers. CSK and RR were banned by BCCI for two years.

Foreign stars: Kevin Pietersen, Martin Guptill, Shane Watson, Dale Steyn, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy, James Pattinson, Mustafizur Rahman.
