Though the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Managing Committee chaired by President Sharad Pawar took a decision to lift the ban on Shah Rukh Khan yesterday, Mumbai cricketer Ankeet Chavan could not earn support from his home association which decided not to challenge his BCCI ban.

Chavan alongwith S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila was banned by the Indian cricket board following the 2012 Indian Premier League spot fixing scandal. After a Delhi court acquitted the trio recently, Chavan wanted the MCA to seek BCCI clearance to resume his cricketing activities.
"Ankeet Chavan, who has been cleared of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) charges, requested us to convince BCCI to lift the ban on him. But the BCCI has already sent an email to MCA clearing the factual position on this issue.
The MCA has therefore decided that it would not challenge BCCI's action against Ankeet which was taken as per the disciplinary committee code and the anti-corruption code. So, we have rejected his request," MCA vice-president Shelar told reporters yesterday.
Meanwhile, the MCA has decided to provide BCCI with an office space at the MCA Bandra-Kurla complex.
