Mohammed Shami
It took just ten balls on the morning of Day 2, for Mohamed Shami to wrap up England's innings at 287 in the first test at Edgbaston. R Ashwin missed out on a 5-fer with four wickets to his name, while Mohammed Shami ended with three wickets. It is now on India's openers Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan to give India a good start.
Mohammed Shami was India's best fast bowler on Day One as his pre-dominantly fuller length had the English batsmen pushing unconvincingly at balls on the line of the stumps. Though the pacer from Uttar Pradesh did not play much cricket in the recent past, throughout the day yesterday, Shami's pace hovered around 140kmh and his beautiful release ensured the ball continued to hoop through the air. The right-arm seamer might have a tough time off the field in recent times, but the way he charged in and delivered for his side had to be credited.
