Kolkata: It's been a scorching summer in this neck of the woods with heat-stroke killing six persons recently, a couple of them being from the city. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the finalists of Indian Premier League-8 are not about to hold the weather as an excuse tonight.

"The IPL is always played at this time of the year, so players should be ready to play in whatever conditions they have to. At the end of the day you are a professional cricketer, you have to come out and give your best," responded MI skipper Rohit Sharma at the pre-match media interaction on Saturday.

‘Focus on win'
"All we want to focus is on how we're going win this trophy. It's not about the weather or players being mentally tired (after a long season). We have to perform and that's what we have to concentrate on."

Suresh Raina, representing CSK as skipper MS Dhoni skipped another media conference, nodded agreement, and went a step further by spelling out how to rise above the celsius. "You just need to hydrate yourself, sleep on time and have a lot of massage. You have to eat well, sleep well and be disciplined with your routine," reminded the 28-year-old.

Rohit pointed out that it's not so much the heat but the humidity that is killing. "Coming from Mumbai, we're used to this kind of humidity."
