Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput has played the reel-life Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' and has been a staunch supporter of Mahi.
Dhoni had recently hit a rough patch, but on Saturday, he smashed an unbeaten 61 to finally come good and reassert his top-class finisher tag as he guided Rising Pune Supergiant to a six- wicket victory over defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling IPL match.
The match-winning performance after a series of flop shows, reasserted Dhoni's reputation as a top-notch finisher. The former India captain was in his elements, smashing a flurry of fours and sixes as Pune overhauled the target of 177 in the final ball of the run chase.
Sushant, who is looking forward to his next relase 'Raabta', took a dig at 'experts' like Sourav Ganguly who had questioned Dhoni's T20 credentials after Mahi's heroics. He tweeted, "Dhoni is not a â¦. " what did you say ?? Wonder where are the Experts now. Proud of you mahi!!"

Ganguly had recently called Dhoni a "champion ODI player", but had expressed doubt if he was still that good in the shortest format. "I am not too sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to T20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that's not the best record," Ganguly had told India Today.
Ganguly's scathing comments came on the back Dhoni's ever-falling run in the shortest format of the game. Dhoni, who has been relived of captaincy duties by Rising Pune Supergiant and is playing for the first time as a player in the Indian Premier League, hasn't performed as per the expectations in the ongoing league. With scores of 12 not out, 5 and 11 in the three IPL 10 games he has played so far for the Rising Pune Supergiant, the 35-year-old cricketer, regarded as India's most successful skipper across all formats, has failed to live up to the expectations of his fans.

This is not the first time that Sushant has come out in support of Dhoni. Earlier when #Dhonidropped started trending on Twitter after Dhoni's disappointing show in the first few matches of IPL 2017, Sushant had tweeted, "The fact that Dhoni is so harshly scrutinised shows his class &the standard he has set. It's a matter of time & not hope his bat will answer (sic)."
