Officials at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in neighbouring Mohali went through anxious moments yesterday after a caller repeatedly told the police that a bomb had been placed at the venue of the March 30 India-Pakistan World Cup semi-final. The calls turned out to be a hoax, police said.
According to police, four calls were made yesterday evening from a mobile phone number to the police control rooms here and in Mohali, some 10 km from here.
"We have traced the address of the caller. It is in a slum rehabilitation colony in Palsora town here but now nobody lives there. We have made a special team to nab the accused by ascertaining the location of the mobile phone tower," Neeraj Sarna, inspector in Chandigarh cyber crime cell, said.
