After the dogs at the DY Patil Stadium, it was time for the Mongoose, at the Ferozshah Kotla last evening, as Matthew Hayden unleashed this novelty for the Delhi spectators.
The contraption with its long tail and short, stout bat seemed to have it all, the punch and swing being rather impressive.
The handle of the bat is 43% longer than a normal bat, while the blade is 33% smaller.
But the result depends on who is wielding the wild willow. The bat is becoming a hit with all and sundry and Chennai skipper Suresh Rain also jumped on it after a while.
Also, It is understood that the Deccan Chargers bosses were so impressed with it in Mumbai that they wanted to buy it immediately. When told it was priced at Rs 23,000, they immediately took the cash out!
