Australian spinner Nathan Hauritz will undergo surgery on his dislocated shoulder and his participation in the upcoming World Cup depends on the pace of his recovery, said the team physio Sunday.
Hauritz, the lone specialist spinner in Australia's World Cup squad, injured his shoulder during the second One-day International (ODI) against England at Hobart Friday.
"Hauritz will have arthroscopic surgery of his shoulder joint in Melbourne. This is a small procedure that we hope will give him the best opportunity to be available for the World Cup," said physiotherapist Alex Kountouris.
"He will then have a period of intense rehabilitation and attempt to return to training in the coming weeks if we feel this is appropriate.
