Chris Gayle believes the forthcoming series with England will be a defining one for his West Indies team.

There are positive noises reverberating around the Caribbean about a West Indian revival, following a fallow period in their cricket history. Glimpses of promise have been shown in the last year or so, with a Test win in South Africa followed by another against Sri Lanka on home soil.

The most recent 0-0 draw in New Zealand showed that the Windies under Gayle, who captains his side in his Jamaican homeland today, are no longer pushovers.

"New Zealand wasn't a bad series, but this England series will definitely determine where we are heading," he predicted.

"The guys definitely want to put up a good fight against this England team.

"We have not done well against England in recent years, but I hope the tables can turn a bit. I am enjoying the captaincy so far. There's been a lot of pressure. But that is my middle name, so I thrive on it.
