Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that though he desperately wanted senior batsman Younis Khan in the squad for the upcoming Test series in England, issues ranging from lack of match-practice to past disciplinary problems prevented him from being selected.


Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that though he desperately wanted senior batsman Younis Khan in the squad for the upcoming Test series in England, issues ranging from lack of match-practice to past disciplinary problems prevented him from being selected.

"I wanted Younis to be in the team but besides the issue of his recent form there was also a bit of disciplinary issue with him," said Afridi.

Afridi, however, said that he was satisfied with the team that was picked up for the Asia Cup and also for the Test series against Australia and hosts England.

"One must understand I don't' alone pick the team, the input of the coach and selectors is also involved in this process," The Nation quoted Afridi, as saying.

Though Pakistan managed to win only one match in the Asia Cup, the flashy all rounder said he was satisfied with his team's performance in the quadrangular tournament.
