Mumbai will be without its regular captain Aditya Tare for the opening Ranji Trophy encounter against Madhya Pradesh in Indore from tomorrow.

Aditya Tare

Tare has opted out to stay by the side of his wife, who is expected to deliver a baby anytime. Tare's chances of playing the opening match depended on the birth of their baby. The Ranji Trophy-winning skipper yesterday informed the Mumbai selectors and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about his decision to stay back. "I would like to thank the selectors, association and my teammates for understanding my situation and supporting me through it," Tare told mid-day. Vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav will now lead the pack in Tare's absence.
