Team India skipper Virat Kohli defended Hardik Pandya when quizzed about his unfortunate dismissal in the final against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Pakistan hammered India by 180 runs to lift the ICC Champions Trophy, riding on a scintillating hundred from rookie opener Fakhar Zaman and a sensational bowling spell from Mohammad Amir.

Hardik Pandya smashed 76 off 43 balls, hit half a dozen of sixes to provide some entertainment, before being run-out due to a horrible mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja. Pandya was livid but he was only delaying the inevitable. India had to chase 339 runs by were unsuccessful after relinquishing crucial wickets in the match.
According to Sportskeeda, Kohli said he was more than satisfied with Hardik Pandya's performance throughout the Champions Trophy. He heaped praise on the all-rounder for his effecient batting, bowling and fielding, during the tournament.
Virat Kohli's response came in a post-match press conference, after India's defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.
The Indian skipper went on to say that Pakistan was the more aggressive team. "We can't take anyone lightly but they were more intense and passionate on the day. With the ball, we could have had a few more wicket-taking opportunities. We tried to do out best, but even with the ball, they were aggressive, while we didn't show any resistance apart from Hardik, who's knock was outstanding," he said.
Despite the heavy loss, Kohli had a smile on his face. "I want to congratulate Pakistan, they had an amazing tournament. The way they turned things around speaks volumes about the talent they have," Kohli added.
