After his batting exploits, he credited his uncle Raj Kumar for shaping his cricketing career.

"I came to Mumbai five years back to live my cricketing dreams. I stayed with my uncle Raj Kumar in Navynagar. When I was a kid, he used to drop me and pick me up from Azad Maidan where I used sit for hours together watching other people play cricket.

"Two years ago, Nafees Sir (his coach) asked me if I wanted to play for the school and got me admitted. I'm glad that now my father doesn't have to worry about the expenses to build my career in cricket as the school authorities take care of everything," he said.
