Mumbai Indians' explosive batsman Richard Levi said Sachin Tendulkar provided the calmness he needed during his knock against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League opening game here on Wednesday.

Levi, who hogged the limelight after hitting the fastest hundred in Twenty20 internationals for South Africa against New Zealand recently, smashed 50 off 35 balls to help Mumbai chase down Chennai's 112 with ease. The 24-year-old felt that the fresh wicket at Chepauk was good for batting and Tendulkar's presence at the other end made things easier for him. Continue reading below

"It was fantastic batting with him [Tendulkar]. He was such a calming figure out there and so easy to talk to," said Levi, who shared a 69-run stand with Tendulkar before the veteran batsman retired hurt after a sharp Doug Bollinger delivery hit his gloves.

On Tendulkar's injury, Levi said: "Sachin should be fine soon. There was some bleeding in his fingers. He will be going for a scan but it should be okay."
