BCCI to conduct parallel probe in Sharma's case

The BCCI though are not fully convinced. "We don't know how they (police) have come to a conclusion after conducting just one test. So, we will conduct our own parallel probe into the matter after getting all the relevant documents from the police. For that, we may even form a committee which will make its own inquiry and then decide on the future course of action," a top BCCI official told SUNDAY MiD DAY.

According to the office-bearer, BCCI cannot jump to conclusions based on the police report alone, as they have to follow rules outlined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the matter.

"We cannot charge a player based on one report. So, we are exploring legal opinions on how to go about tackling this issue," the official said. The official however, hinted that if Sharma is found guilty, he might be banned. "If he is found guilty, then, as outlined in our policy, we may impose a ban on the particular cricketer," the official added.u00a0
