Big-hitting middle order batsman Cameron White was yesterday called up by Australia to replace the disgraced Andrew Symonds for the World Twenty20 which gets underway later today.
The 25-year-old Victorian, who was surprisingly left out of the original squad, was the obvious replacement after Symonds was sent home for what Australia captain Ricky Ponting described as an "alcohol-related incident".
White has played seven Twenty20 internationals, scoring a total of 152 runs with a highest score of 40 not out.
Symonds's exit came just 48 hours before Australia's opening Group C match against the West Indies at the Oval.
