Akshay Wadkar
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was involved in a faux pas after selecting Punjab wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Gupta in the India Red squad for the Duleep Trophy despite the fact that he is serving a doping ban till September 14.
The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to take place from August 17 to September 8. After Gupta's selection was brought to BCCI's notice by the anti-doping team, the MSK Prasad-led selection committee named Vidarbha's Akshay Wadkar as his replacement. Wadkar scored a ton in the final against Delhi as Vidarbha clinched their maiden Ranji Trophy title last season.
In June, Gupta was handed a retrospective eight-month suspension for an "inadvertent" doping violation. Meanwhile, the first four-day match between India 'A' and South Africa 'A' has been shifted to Bangalore from Belgaum due to an inclement weather forecast.
