The G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting has proved to be a significant event for India-China relations. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang visited India for the first time after Tawang clash. EAM S Jaishankar also held a detailed bilateral meeting with his Chinese Counterpart. The leaders discussed current challenges, bilateral relationships and peace in the border areas. The G20FMM was also a test for Beijing’s balancing act between the US-led West and Russia in the midst of Ukraine crisis. India had also hosted US’ Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Now, Russia has called for betterment in India-China relations amidst troubled situations at the border. Addressing the audience at Raisina Dialogue, Lavrov batted for improvement in India-China relations. He also talked about RIC (Russia-India –China), for which was initiated by his predecessor Yevgeny Primakov. Amid polarizing war, the divide between West and Russia-China came to the fore at G20 event. While there was no joint statement, India has managed to bring world leaders closer to consensus. Both US and Russia have lauded India for its stance on war, which calls for “a cessation of hostilities, return to dialogue”.
