On October 8, an Israeli airstrike hit a residential building in the Mezzah suburb of Damascus, Syria, resulting in the deaths of seven civilians, including women and children. Eleven others were seriously injured. The strike reportedly involved three missiles launched from the Golan Heights. Syrian state media mentioned that air defenses intercepted some incoming threats near Damascus. This attack caused significant damage to nearby properties. Israel has been targeting Iranian-linked sites in Syria for several years, but the number of strikes has increased since the October 7 attack last year. These ongoing airstrikes are part of Israel’s efforts to counter Iranian influence in the region. The loss of innocent lives and damage to homes raises serious concerns about the impact of such military actions on civilians.
