Demonstrators chanted slogans such as "free, free Palestine" and "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" while waving Palestinian flags and wearing keffiyeh scarfs, symbolizing solidarity with Palestine.

On the first day of protests, on October 8, tensions had escalated with the pro-Palestinian groups and counter-protest supporting Israeli demonstrators came face to face outside the Israeli consulate in NYC.

In NYC, some pro-Israeli demonstrators crossed the barricades, resulting in a short skirmish. An Israeli flag was torn away and stepped on, leading to police intervention.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul condemned the planned pro-Palestinian rally, deeming it "abhorrent and morally repugnant." This event drew attention from political leaders in New York, who issued similar statements.

Pro-Palestinian protests occurred not only in New York but also in several other US cities, including Atlanta, Washington, DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, showcasing the widespread concern and support for Palestine.

The war between Israel and Hamas has led to an upsurge in support for Palestinians in various American cities, despite the historical US alliance with Israel. Demonstrators called for an end to civilian casualties and condemned the airstrikes in Gaza.
