A train traveling from Surabaya to Bandung collided with a commuter train heading to Padalarang from the Cicalengka station, according to Ayep Hanapi, spokesperson for PT Kereta Api Indonesia, the national railways.

West Java Police spokesperson Ibrahim Tompo confirmed the death toll of three individuals, along with several injuries sustained by others involved in the collision. 

The severity of injuries and the exact number of casualties are yet to be fully ascertained.

Television footage depicted the aftermath of the collision, showing overturned and severely damaged train carriages, with ambulances on the scene evacuating the injured.

One carriage was observed to have plunged into a nearby field, illustrating the force and impact of the collision.
