Biden expressed concerns over China's activities, including human rights abuses, coercive actions in the South China Sea, and detained US citizens, hoping for their release.

President Biden specifically highlighted China's alleged human rights abuses in regions like Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong during the nearly four-hour-long discussion.

Stressing peace in the Taiwan Strait, Biden said it is crucial to maintain stability in the region.

The US President criticised China's non-market economic practices disadvantaging American businesses, indicating plans to address these concerns.

Biden mentioned having candid and straightforward discussions with Xi Jinping over the past decade, acknowledging that agreements weren't always reached.

Confirming the re-establishment of direct military-to-military contacts with China, Biden highlighted that there's a need for clear communication to prevent misunderstandings.

Stressing on the importance of transparent communication to avoid potential miscalculations, Biden highlighted the need for direct and open channels between the US and China.

The meeting that occurred during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), reflected ongoing efforts to improve high-level communication amid continuing tensions.

Biden then highlighted achievements, such as the formation of the Quad alliance and initiatives with countries like Australia and the Philippines, reiterating his views on Xi Jinping's leadership style, and labelling him as a dictator based on China's communist governance.
