An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck the Hokkaido region in Japan on Friday at 5.44 am (local time), according to GFZ, a German Research Centre for Geosciences, reported news agency ANI.

The depth of the earthquake is recorded to be 46 Kilometers. So far, no casualties have been reported.

Similarly, on Thursday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 jolted eastern Turkey, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The earthquake occurred at 10 kilometres South South West (SSW) of Turkey's Malatya at 17:48 (UTC) on Thursday, according to EMSC.

The depth of the earthquake was registered at a depth of 10.9 kilometres.

Taking to its Twitter handle, EMSC stated, "#Earthquake 10 km SW of #Malatya (#Turkey) 19 min ago (local time 20:48:00). Updated map - Colored dots represent local shaking & damage level reported by eyewitnesses."

Another earthquake of magnitude 4.3 jolted Central California of the United States on Thursday (local time), according to the US Geological Survey, reported news agency ANI.

According to the US geological survey, the earthquake occurred at 19:17:18 (UTC) on August 10 with the epicenter located at 6 kilometers NorthWest of California's Parkfield. The USGS said that the last "Parkfield earthquake" was in 2004, reported ANI.

Taking to its official Twitter handle, the USGS stated, "Today's M4.3 near Parkfield reminds us that the Parkfield segment of the San Andreas has produced M~6 quakes relatively frequently since the 1800s. The last "Parkfield earthquake" was in 2004, 19 yrs ago."

No reports of casualties or material damage are known yet.

Another earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded 112km SSE of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar island on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, National Center for Seismology said, reported ANI.

The tremors were felt at 02:56:12 Indian standard time (IST).

According to NCS, the depth of the earthquake was registered at 10 km.

"Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.3, Occurred on 11-08-2023, 02:56:12 IST, Lat: 10.66 & Long: 93.04, Depth: 10 km, Location: 112km SSE of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar Island, India," NCS tweeted.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 jolted the Andaman and Nicobar island on Monday, National Center for Seismology said.

The quake hit the islands at 12:53:24 Indian standard time (IST).

National Center for Seismology (NCS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
