Families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas on Saturday called for all parties to immediately accept the ceasefire proposal detailed by US President Joe Biden, a day before, to end the nearly 8-month-long war and bring their relatives home. The Israeli government, however, said the conditions for a cease-fire still must be met.

"We want to see people coming back from Gaza alive and soon," Gili Roman, the brother of the Israeli hostage, Yarden Roman said. "This might be the last chance to save lives. Therefore, the current state must be changed and we expect all to adhere to Biden's call for accepting the deal on the table, immediately. There is no other way to create a better situation for all. Our leadership must not disappoint us. But mostly, all eyes should be on Hamas."

The US President Joe Biden offered Hamas a cease-fire and hostage release deal that would unfold over three phases, with the first one lasting for six weeks with a complete cease-fire, including a withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza. It will be followed by the release of all hostages, and the start of a major reconstruction for Gaza.

He urged the Israelis and Hamas to agree to release some 100 remaining hostages, along with the bodies of around 30 more, for an extended cease-fire. Israel on the other hand, says that the Rafah operation is vital for uprooting the Hamas fighters responsible for the October 7 attack on southern Israel that triggered the war.
