The "Let's Go Crazy" icon (57) was found dead at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota on Thursday. The "Purple Rain" was at number one, followed by "Little Red Corvette," "When Doves Cry," "Kiss" and "Let's Go Crazy," while a host of his other songs appeared throughout the iTunes US Top 100 songs.

Also his albums took the top three positions on Apple's download chart in the US. "The Very Best of Prince" took the number one slot, just ahead of the "Purple Rain" soundtrack, followed by "The Hits/ The B-Sides" in the third spot. While the cause of his death is still unknown, officials from the Midwest Medical Examiner's office said they have received his body and an autopsy will be performed.

US President Barack Obama has led his countrymen in mourning his death. "Today, the world lost a creative icon," said Obama.
