"Joining this small team of qualified gardeners, you will help ensure the Royal Gardens and surrounding areas of Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace are maintained to an exceptional standard," the Royal Household, which provides everyday services to the Queen and the Royal Family, said on its website.
The gardener will have to ensure that the lawns are cared for throughout the year - from grass cutting and scarifying to irrigation, fertilisation and machinery maintenance. They will also be required to help in preparations for high profile events, ensuring the lawns and gardens are presented at their best for thousands of visitors to admire.
"With a busy annual calendar of events, organisation and time management will be critical. And when required, you will be happy to lend a hand and help with general garden duties," an advertisement on the website said.
Candidates must hold a UK driving license and have a formal qualification in sports turf level two. They also need to have experience of turf maintenance
machinery and be able to carry out maintenance and repairs.
The employee will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday, a 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme, all meals provided, training and development, as well as a range of recreational facilities. The last date to apply is September 9.
