The 24-year-old British woman, who was recently murdered in Kashmir, was asked not to travel there, her family has said.

Sarah Groves' father, Victor Groves, said that his daughter was suppose to go to Sri Lanka but altered her plans and went to India instead.

He added that they had tried hard to stop her from going there, the BBC reports.

It is believed she had been stabbed.

Indian police said a Dutch national, Richard de Wit, who is in his 40s, had confessed to killing Groves.
