Washington: Donald Trump yesterday sparked off yet another row when he hit out at the parents of a fallen Pakistani-origin Muslim American soldier over remarks that he has "sacrificed nothing" for the country. In response to a speech by Army Capt. Humayun Khan's father Khizr Khan at last week's Democratic National Convention, the Republican presidential nominee mocked the mother for keeping silent and said that he "made a lot of sacrifices".

The real estate tycoon, however, drew sharp criticism from all quarters, including the Khans and from his own party.
"Who wrote that? Did Hillary (Clinton)'s script writers write it?" Trump said. "I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. "I've created tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. Sure those are sacrifices," he said. Trump then alleged that Ghazala Khan was not allowed to speak, and said, "His wife was standing there. She had nothing to say. May be she wasn't allowed to have anything to say."

Khan then responded that Trump has a "black soul" who needs counselling on "empathy". He also called out to the Republicans saying, "History will not forgive them. The lack of moral courage will remain a burden on their souls." Meanwhile, Ghazala has penned an op-ed in the Washington Post stating, "Trump criticised my silence. He knows nothing about true sacrifice".
