China denounces Nobel Prize winner

Family and friends of imprisoned dissident Liu Xiaobo came under pressure on Saturday as Chinese authorities digested his controversial Nobel Peace Prize win the previous day.

Police forced Liu's wife to leave Beijing and were believed to have taken her to the northeastern city of Jinzhou, where her husband is imprisoned. Meanwhile, dozens of rights activists were detained or missing as Chinese police continued a crackdown.

Police arrested at least 20 activists who were trying to celebrate the award of the prize to Liu Xiaobo, while several others said they were detained or kept under house arrest on Saturday.
