Lahore: A resolution to ban Hindi-dubbing of popular animated series Doraemon was submitted yesterday in Pakistan's Punjab Assembly, saying it will have a "negative impact" on the "educational and physical well-being" of Pakistani children.
The resolution was submitted by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf member, Taimur Masood. It said all cable network in the country are running Doraemon cartoon round-the-clock and it is leaving a "bad impact" on the children.
Doraemon is a popular animated Japanese series. The resolution asks Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to ban cartoon channels in general, and Doraemon in particular.
The resolution also suggests limiting the hours of cartoon channels.
"The Hindi-dubbing of Doraemon is not only affecting the language of Pakistani children, but as a whole leaving a bad impact on the society as well," it said. The resolution is likely to be discussed in the next assembly session.
