An Australian man, who accidentally threw out 50,000 dollars worth of his wife's jewellery just two days before his 23rd wedding anniversary, is now petitioning his local council to scour local rubbish tips
Geoffrey, who had split the uninsured collection of jewellery into three garbage bags to try to fool potential robbers, swept them out to the wheelie bin - and, most likely, the Nambour tip, in a terrible mix up while cleaning the house.
Geoffrey, from Caloundra, revealed that he was afraid of being a target of robbers after his GPS navigation system with his home address was stolen along with his keys.
"I had this great idea to split the gold into three rubbish bags so if the thieves did come in they're not going to find it," the Herald Sun quoted him as saying.

"We're moving house and I told the kids and to give me any garbage lying around for me to throw out.
"My wife rang me up when I was at work and said 'Where are the bags?' You know that sick feeling you get? Wow!" he added.
Though he frantically called Sunshine Coast Regional Council to rescue the items that included charm bracelets, bangles and pure gold bars, the authority said there was hardly any chance of finding the loot.
