EAM Jaishankar engages in bilateral talks with counterparts at Munich Security Conference

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held many bilateral discussions with counterparts from several nations during the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Jaishankar met with officials from Saudi Arabia, Norway, Portugal, Poland, and Belgium to talk about bilateral relations and global challenges like the situation in West Asia and the need for reformed multilateralism, reported PTI.

According to the report, Jaishankar discussed connectivity and strategic relationship with his Saudi colleague, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. He also emphasised the significance of reformed multilateralism and a more equitable global order with his Norwegian colleague, Espen Barth Eide.

"A productive conversation with FM HH Faisal bin Farhan of Saudi Arabia. Discussed connectivity, the West Asia situation and our strategic partnership," Jaishankar posted on X on Saturday.

"A big picture chat with FM Espen Barth Eide of Norway on the sidelines of MSC 2024. Spoke about the imperative of reformed multilateralism and a more equitable world order," Jaishankar wrote in his social media post.

Jaishankar also discussed the situation between Russia and Ukraine, as well as bilateral cooperation with peers from Poland and Belgium. He also met with Friedrich Merz, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party in Germany, to discuss closer India-Germany and India-EU relations.

Jaishankar also took part in a session titled 'Vishwa Mitra: Bridging the Divide,' where he discussed the world order with other global leaders. He shared photos from the same, per the report.

During the conference, Jaishankar spoke with media outlets, think tanks, and young leaders, offering his thoughts on global issues and calling for collaborative solutions, the report added.
