The train travel for all vaccinated has opened a new chapter within Covid-19 restrictions time for the city. While there will be plenty of reportage about the passes for travel, the grey area that leads to confusion and a myriad other complaints about this unlocking, it is apparent that once trains open to more people than they were previously, it is a significant development for a commuting city. We will be blaming officials, administrators and the government if things go wrong and opening up of train travel proves to be a misadventure.

Yet, while we point fingers at our leaders and we must criticise fairly to make them aware of wrongs, it is also vital we change our behaviour at train stations and inside trains. As the government has opened a new chapter with this, let commuters transform the way we travel, not just now but in future too.

More responsibility while boarding and alighting, which means no trying to get into or disembark from moving trains. Smash the book-a-window-seat gangs that travel as if they are entitled to certain seating and woe betide you dare to take their seat. No ticketless travel even if the ticket checker is not there and getting into the first class with a second class ticket. Doing these cheats is criminal, pure and simple.

Much better behaviour on the platforms, now more than ever, but in future too. Orderly movement when possible and let us make that possible at most times, less careening down the stairs as if the world will end if you miss a particular train.

The stuntmen on trains, rooftop travel must end - it should be a closed issue and never to re-open. The ongoing pandemic has given us time and opportunity for change. Let us make this a good one and put less strife in the lifeline of the city.
