The Aarogya Setu app has created mayhem in a Ghatkopar-based interior designer's life, a front-page report said in this paper.
A glitch in this app has brought his life to an abrupt halt. The man had tested positive for COVID in May 2020. The app continues to show him as positive months after his recovery.
The glitch has meant a loss in business as his work involves visiting corporate offices and with the app showing him as positive, he is not given entry anywhere. In one instance, he was disallowed from entering a hotel. His complaints have failed to yield results. Both the state and the Centre's health honchos are passing the buck and the harried citizen has no answers.
There has to be some quick action to ameliorate a very problematic situation for this person, who has become an unwitting victim of this malfunctioning app. To have no answers to complaints and passing the buck is unacceptable, to say the least, and in this case, even criminal, given the loss of business this person is facing,
At the beginning of the pandemic, there were several reports about the Aarogya Setu app creating problems. One would have thought that all these problems were ironed out then, but it is horrific to think they continue one year after.
When we see people suffering because of such problems, and there is no accountability, then it punctures the relief and happiness we feel when we read about our vaccine drive being on track. It dents pride too, the pride that comes with nations looking at India's COVID fight and at a robust, though nascent, vaccination drive. Let us see an adequate response to this situation. One would think it is fairly straightforward to tackle this, so it is extremely disappointing that there have been no answers for so long.
