Full marks to the Mumbai police for cracking the rape case involving teenage girls so quickly and for putting the culprit Pritesh Doshi behind bars before he could ruin the lives of other innocent girls. But what surprises me is the filmi style in which the guy just whisked away girls in broad daylight and that too in an auto rickshaw.
That the girls did not yell for help out of sheer shock can be understood, but why didn't the auto drivers resist ferrying a passenger travelling with a minor girl, who was pulled into the vehicle against her will, is still a big question.
Partners in crime
This suggests that in all likelihood, the auto drivers were hand-in-glove with the criminal and were possibly tipped heavily by the rapistu00a0 to ferry him to shady destinations. That makes them guilty in the gruesome plan and they must be arrested too.
If such drivers areu00a0 moving about freely in the city, we won't have to wait long for another such incident to happen.u00a0
