After Elon Musk announced his political view and the news of him losing billions in a day, 'Poor Elon' started trending on Twitter on May 19. The announcement prompted users to tweet 'Poor Elon' on the micro-blogging platform.
In his tweet, Musk mentioned that he earlier used to vote for the Democrats because they were 'the kindness party'.
He tweeted, "In the past, I voted Democrat because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold"

The 50-year-old billionaire recently said he would reverse Twitter's ban on former US President Donald Trump, a Republican, when he buys the social media platform. He also said Twitter is far-Left-biased because it is headquartered in California, a state known for its progressive politics.
Tesla's stock fell 6.8 PER CENT on Wednesday after he announced his support for Republicans and Tesla was removed from a closely watched sustainable index.
"Poor Elon might only be the 2nd or 3rd richest man in the world now," one Twitter user said.
Musk's mother criticised some tweets for "nasty comments" and alleged they were "troll or bot", referring to fake accounts.
His mother Maye Musk tweeted, "Digging deeper... Poor Elon is trending. This Twitter account has 16 followers. It has over 1000 likes and nearly 400 retweets by people who also have very few followers. One has only 7 followers. Who is creating these trends? And why are they dishonest and malicious?"
